Salted Chocolate Chip Blondies (vegan)

I don’t know about you, but I am a HUGE fan of anything sweet and salty.

Whether it’s kettle corn, or just a good salted chocolate chip cookie - you had me at salty. I know that it’s not everybody’s favorite, but I truly love the combination. I mean, I add salt to my smoothies just to give it that special kick - now THAT’S commitment, amirite?

Though, if i’m being honest, I hadn’t intended to have this recipe be so wild (hehe) - I just had an idea to make some chocolate chip blondies. Yet, as I was mixing the batter, I thought - why not add MORE salt? Make it a little special? Though, I didn’t want to just add more salt to my dry mix - nah, this had to be a flavor EXPLOSION. And it just so happened that I had some salted dark chocolate in my pantry - and the rest was history.

So, here we are. If i’m being honest, this is one of my absolute favorite recipes ever, and that’s a bold statement.


Salted Chocolate Chip Blondies


1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 flax egg

1/3 cup melted coconut oil

2/3 cup coconut sugar

3 Tbsp nut or seed butter

1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup warm water

1 chopped salted dark chocolate bar


Preheat your oven to 350F. Line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper and set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together your flour + baking soda + salt + sugar and set aside. In a separate bowl, combine your flax egg + melted coconut oil + nut or seed butter + vinegar + warm water. Add the wet mixture to the dry and mix until fully incorporated - but don’t over-mix! Then, fold in your chopped chocolate and pour the batter into you baking pan. Bake the blondies for about 40 minutes, or until crispy on the edges - if need be, leave them baking for an additional 5-10 minutes. Then, just let them cool before cutting into squares.
