Figs and berries - is there anything better?

This was the first time I ever had fresh figs. Seriously. I've tried them dried before this (though they are not my cup of tea) and if I did ever had them fresh, then I must have been much too young to have remembered it. But upon walking into Trader Joe's (aka heaven) and seeing the fresh organic figs on sale, I thought, why not? I've been curious for some time, but in New Jersey, they were much too expensive, the few times I had actually seen them in a grocery store. I've noticed them much more here in NC, so I took the plunge - and couldn't be more glad.

First of all, I need to say this: I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MORE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF FRUIT IN MAH LIFE. Seriously. When I cut open my first fig, I thought I would shed a tear at the sheer beauty of it. Then, after gazing at a piece of fruit for a solid five minutes like a maniac, I took a bite. And they are wonderful.

So, naturally, the next morning I wanted to make a fig smoothie bowl with berries - and voila, it is here. After finally being enlightened by the experience of a fig, I have many more desserts that I am just itching (not literally) to make. Yet, for now, here is a simple smoothie bowl that is equally as satisfying.

3 fresh figs

2 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen or fresh berries

Add ingredients to your blender & mix it all up. If you used frozen berries, add 1/4 cup of water or plant milk to help the blender mix it well. Then, pour into a bowl and add your toppings of choice!
