Tahini Black Bean Burgers (Vegan + GF)
I dunno about you, but I am absolutely obsessed with tahini and put it on everything.
I’m not even exaggerating.
I first tried it about a year ago and started using it in pasta; then, on bread. now, burgers. and honestly everything in between. I wholeheartedly believe that tahini can do no wrong, and with such. diverse flavor, it can be used both sweet and savory.
Also, these black bean burgers kick ass.
I started making these (also) like last year, when I was just craving a freaking burger - ya know, the homemade kind that you can sizzle on the griddle or bake to golden-brown perfection. And so I did. And, because I am the laziest when it comes to lunch or dinner, I wanted something super duper easy that I can just mash into one bowl and pop into the oven - and that’s just what I did.
These are dumb easy, and filled with simple ingredients like black beans (duh), pinto beans, onions, oats, and other good tings.
So go put on your chef hat and let’s get cracking.
Tahini Black Bean Burgers
1/2 cup oats (get GF is needed!)
1 can black beans
1 can pinto beans
1/3 cup chopped mushrooms
1/3 cup chopped spinach or kale
1/2 an onion, chopped and sautéed
2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 cup plant based milk
2 Tbsp tahini
Blend up your oats in a food processor and then transfer to a medium sized bowl. Add in all of your remaining ingredients, and mash together either using your hands or something like a potato masher. Once everything is fully incorporated, then just form patties and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. You should make about 6 patties in total. If baking, bake at 400*F for about 20 minutes, but you can also cook them on a greased skillet for about 3 minutes on each side. Then, just serve on your choice of bun and add on the toppings!
